The people of Lonoke are generous in spirit and resources. Numerous nonprofits with unique strengths and focus areas are headquartered in Lonoke to serve the children and underprivileged in the community and surrounding region. Each of these organizations welcome participation from the community, many with annual events highlighting their work, and regular opportunities for individuals to volunteer their skills and time. Building Bridges
Building Bridges Development and Community Services - is a non-profit organization licensed by Arkansas Developmental Disability Services. The programs offered are designed to provide skills and opportunities for individuals that have developmental disabilities that will enable them to increase their ability to make choices that will lead to a useful, purposeful, and self-sufficient life.
George Washington Carver Alumni Assc.
The mission of Carver Alumni Association is to preserve the history of the school and to perpetuate unity in Lonoke through service, giving, and community engagement based in the Carver Resource Center located adjacent to the former Carver High School Campus on Frank T. Bunton Street in Lonoke. The George Washington Carver Alumni Association honors the legacy of learning and leadership embodied by the graduates, educators, and principals of Lonoke’s George Washington Carver High School. Carver High educated generations of African Americans in Lonoke and surrounding communities in the decades prior to the integration of the Lonoke Public School system in the early 1970’s.
CASA of Lonoke County
The mission of Grand Prairie CASA is to provide and promote quality court appointed volunteer advocacy to every abused, neglected and dependent child in the foster care system so the child can be safe, establish permanence, and have the opportunity to thrive. CASA (court appointed special advocates) recruites, trains, and supervises volunteers who advocate for children in the 23rd Judicial District (Lonoke County). CASA’s goal is to ensure safety and permanency for children whose lives are in turmoil.
Marjorie McCrary Library
The Lonoke County Library System will provide a safe, open, and educational environment for all of Lonoke County. Each branch of the Lonoke County Library System promises to immerse themselves in the community and to offer equal access to resources, current/future technologies and educational lifelong learning to enhance each patron's quality of life.
Wade Knox Center
The mission of the Wade Knox Child Advocacy Center, Inc. is to reduce the trauma of child abuse by providing a child friendly and safe environment; foster professional collaboration and cooperation; and promote education and advocacy regarding the prevention of child abuse within the community. Wade Knox Children’s Advocacy Center is a child focused, facility based program in which representatives from many different disciplines- Law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim’s advocacy- work together, conducting joint forensic interviews and making team decisions about the investigation, treatment, management, and prosecution of child abuse cases.
Family Resource Services
Family Resource Services of Lonoke is a USDA distribution site that provides assistance for families and individuals in the Lonoke School District who are in need of groceries.
Lions Club
The mission of the Lion's Club is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs. At the heart of Lions clubs there is one constant: service. Giving your time and energy to others is a fantastic way to help your community.
Lonoke Community Foundation
The mission of Arkansas Community Foundation is to engage people, connect resources and inspire solutions to build community. In a nutshell, Arkansas Community Foundation is committed to improving communities through knowledge about local community needs, giving opportunities, grantmaking expertise, data personalized to your community, partnerships that increase impact, and support from Foundation staff.
Lonoke Economic Acceleration & Development
The Lonoke Industrial Development Corporation (LIDC), was formed in 1962, to improve the economic well-being of the citizens of Lonoke by restoring and revitalizing existing agricultural and industrial enterprises and by promoting the development and expansion of new agricultural and industrial enterprises to alleviate unemployment and provide additional employment opportunities in Lonoke. In 2019 the LIDC changed its name to the Lonoke Economic Acceleration & Development Corp (LEAD). The governing documents were updated and a comprehensive five year economic development plan was established focused on the growth of the City’s tax base and upon the growth of Lonoke’s population. Membership in LEAD was expanded to twenty five (25) and the membership is comprised of business entities and individuals.
