A walking tour of the historic residential district guides visitors via smartphone or printed maps along a tree-lined path which features architecturally significant homes listed on the National Register of Historic Places.The City of Lonoke Parks and Recreation Department is focused on a mission of providing top-quality facilities for team sports, healthy recreation, and community gatherings. Waggoner Park, located on Barnes Street, and City Park, located at the southwest corner of Center Street and Academy, serves the children of Lonoke with accessible playgrounds, picnic pavilions, and exercise tracks. The City has invested in transforming the former railroad right-of-way into a first-class walking and running trail, which extends a lighted trail to the Lonoke Ballpark facility to the east, and will soon be expanded to the west end of town, connecting the community and providing a safe path for healthy activity.Director of Parks and Recreation Roy Don Lewis has overseen the expansion and stewardship of Lonoke Ballpark, with the recent construction of new concessions and restroom facilities, and eight playing fields, regionally regarded for the high level of quality with which they are maintained and conditioned.
